Deriv MT5 Review
Deriv MT5 (which was shortened to DMT5) began as the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) online trading platform offered by Binary.com on its Deriv platform. Binary.com has rebranded and moved to Deriv.com. Deriv is a suite of platforms arranged in an intuitive configuration encompassing mobile to desktop, including web trading. Thus MT5 is offered as a web trader, but it is also available as a desktop download and for mobile at Deriv. MT5 is available from the Trader's Hub tab on the Deriv platform. The Trader's Hub is focused on leveraged CFD trading and allows the trader to create accounts for different platforms including MT5.
There are three MT5 accounts, MT5 Financial, MT5 Financial STP and MT5 Derived (subject to availability). MT5 Financial and MT5 Financial STP offer trading in CFDs based on real markets, while MT5 Derived provides trading in CFDs on simulated markets called Synthetic Indices, as well as Forex and Metals Basket Indices. The Synthetic Indices are open for trading 24/7. On MT5, Deriv offers trading on margin (i.e. with leverage).
Which version of MT5 to use
MT4 is offered as desktop, webtrader and a mobile app. The full features of MT5 are on the destop platform, including robots (called Expert Advisors). However Deriv offers a user friendly MT5 web trader as well as the innovative and clear MT5 mobile app.
What is the difference between MT5 Financial and MT5 Financial STP ?
MT5 Financial provides higher leverage up to 1000:1, depending on the trader's country (increasing leverage increases risk). MT5 Financial STP provides STP (Straight Through Processing) trading, connecting traders with liquidity providers and has leverage up to 100:1, depending on the trader's country. Features and specifications can vary depending on the trader's region. The MT5 Financial account provides Forex, Indices, Commodities, Cryptocurrency, ETFs and Stocks CFDs. The MT5 Financial STP account offers Forex Pairs and Cryptocurrencies. There are no commissions charged, except for Cryptos.
Demo vs Real
The trader can open both demo and real accounts. The minimum deposit for a real account on Deriv is $5, but can be higher for some payment methods. The demo account offers virtual funds which are not real money. The trader may practice trading on the demo account and test out trading ideas and tools such as technical indicators.

The most simulated markets Deriv provides are on the MT5 Derived account available from MT5 on Deriv. Both Synthetic Indices and Financial CFDs can also be traded on Deriv X, a user friendly platform for margin CFD trading.
The capacity to trade simulated markets is a distinctive feature of Deriv. Simulated markets use an algorithm to generate charting data. They can be traded and analysed, however they are not real markets. As they are not based on real markets, simulated markets are open 24/7, which is why they can be traded 24/7.
Like CFDs based on real markets, CFDs based on simulated markets can be traded on margin and leverage up to 1000:1 is available for Synthetic Indices (increasing leverage increases risk). The trader may choose the level of volatility or types of markets, as well as the speed at which markets update.
The Synthetic Indices available on the MT5 Derived account include Volatility Indices (which let the trader set volatility levels), Crash and Boom Indices (which simulate falling or rising markets), Range Break Indices which alter the range the market is moving in, Jump Indices (these are volatility indices which jump 3 times an hour) and a Step Index. The Step Index has an equal probability of going up or down at each step.
Additionally Deriv also offers a range of Synthetics which simulate more specialized market conditions such as those around news trading events. There is a review on this site which focuses on MT5 Synthetic Indices, where the trader can find out all the details about this wide offering of ways to trade simulated markets on MetaTrader 5.
The trader may open a Deriv account, then after sign-up and log-in, navigate to the Trader's Hub and open an MT5 account (both Live and Demo) and try out the different Synthetic simulating various types of market conditions, as well as the CFDs based on real markets such as Forex and Stocks CFDs on MT5. MT5 has a life beyond the platform, with a community behind it developing robots, technical indicators and other features, which the trader will be introduced to when they open their first MT5 account.
The minimum deposit for a Deriv live account is $5. The trader will transfer from the live account into their live MT5 account, but there is no minimum deposit to transfer. If the trader wants to test out the powerful platform, they may do so without risk via the Demo account, which can be created from the Trader's Hub.
Deriv offers an accessible way to trade on MT5 with a low minimum deposit and a wide range of payment providers but also offers scope for traders who want to try out the full range of MT5's advanced trading features from copy to automated trading. Additionally Deriv offers a wide range of Synthetic simulating different market conditions as well as CFDs such as Forex, Indices, Metals and Stocks. Deriv MT5.
What is the STP account ?
The MT5 Financial STP account is an account for traders who want to trade more directly into the market. Deriv says it is 100% A Book, which is the order book of liquidity providers. Traders who trade more advanced strategies, for example news trading may wish to consider this account.
Crypto CFD trading
The MT5 Financial accounts offers Cryptocurrency CFD trading. When trading a CFD, the trader does not own any cryptocurrency and thus does not need a wallet. Crypto CFDs are available for trading 24/7.
Why trade on MT5 ?
